With his dominant 12-round decision over previously unbeaten Mikkel Kessler this weekend before over 50,000 in Cardiff, Wales, Joe Calzaghe has catapulted himself amongst the highest echelon of the fight game. Calzaghe won all but three rounds on my scorecard and one of those I had even. Calzagehe is now the undisputed king at 168 pounds upping his record to an unbelievable 44-0 (32 KO’s). They say he has not been beaten in over 17 years and this begs the question, what is so good about this 35-year-old southpaw Welshman? |

Well it’s been a few weeks since Evander Holyfield lost his bid for yet another Heavyweight Championship when he dropped a unanimous decision to Sultan Ibragimov. Evander was 44 years old then, he has since turned 45, but apparently getting another year older has not made him another year wiser, at least outside of the squared circle. Evander say’s he will fight on, unbelievable, don’t you think? You know what’s so amazing about this is Holyfield is so smart inside the ring, has so much wisdom inside the ring, yet he is the opposite outside of it. |

Made it back in one piece from the Appalachian Mountains in North Georgia where I was doing a bit of R&R but more importantly working on a screenplay. Yes it does have something to do with Pugilism, but a whole lot more to do about life and its vicissitudes. No more details now. I made it back from the back woods, also known as Deliverance Land, (no squealing like a pig please), in time to be ringside Saturday Night at Mandalay Bay to watch Manny Pacquiao win a clear cut but entertaining decision over one of boxing’s best ever Marco Antonio Barrera. |
