Written by Smitty So Kelly Pavlik gets the easy win over Miguel Espino (tko 5) over the weekend, in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, on what was amazingly a PPV Card that I bet only 17 people bought. I was not one of them even though I have been a big supporter of Kelly. What Pavlik should do now is have his postponed date with Paul Williams take place in the first half of 2010. Kelly needs to stay busy as I hear he has some issues when he has too much time on his hands and spends too much time with his Youngstown hommies. Williams struggled mightily in his last fight a controversial decision over Sergio Martinez a few weeks back, and may be wise to take a money fight with Kelly rather than risk a rematch right now with Martinez who gave him fits. I think Pavlik vs Williams would be a nice fight to watch, and both fighters are only once beaten and Kelly is 27 years old to Williams 28, and stylistically it would be interesting with Williams movement and volume vs Kelly’s fire power. Speaking of nice fights to watch, it looks like I won’t have to travel too far for Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao as I believe by the end of this week we will know that the mega showdown will be hosted by my favorite boxing venue The MGM Grand here in Las Vegas which is featured on the official Smitty Holiday Card, and on that I leave you with this: Have A Very Merry Christmas and Healthy Holiday Season. Speak at you later in the week. Hope you get what you want for Xmas. Hands up and Chin down. |
